Houthan received her Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from King Abdulaziz University Saudi Arabia 2007. Therefore, she has a professional accreditation Certificate (Certificate Medical Laboratory Technician), worked as a Laboratory Technician for one year, and completed CPR training from the American Heart Association. She has internship in Maternity and Children's hospital for one year in Jeddah Saudi Arabia 2008, she has joined as trainee in laboratory department: Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Parasitology, Hormone, Histology, Blood Bank and Phlebotomy.

- Awarded King Abdullah Scholarship for Graduate studies in Australia.  Houthan finished the first year in master’s of Biotechnology at Flinders University 2015 and she interested in doing her research in virology and exosome.
