I completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2014, specialising in biochemistry, molecular biology and microbiology. Through completing my degree I became interested in viral and bacterial influences on health and disease, which lead to my current enrolment in Honours in the Microbial Systems Laboratory, under supervision of Prof. Jim Mitchell and Dr. Peter Speck.

In my Honours year I will be studying human nasal microbial communities in a subset of the healthy population. Samples will be taken from twelve different sites around the face, six of which are inside the nasal cavity. Abundance and sequence data from these samples will be collated to develop a spatial network analysis map, showing the relationships of bacteria and viruses in the healthy human nasal cavity.
